York Trip 26 July 2011

On the 26th of July, 52 members of NCWA went on a trip to York, Which is a very old and lovely city . We first went to The National Railway Musuem and saw lots of railway engines dating from the early 19th century to the modern Japanese Bullet trian. The coach then took us to York Minster, a beautiful historic building. At lunch time, we had a meal in a Chinese buffet restaurant. We then had free time to explore York. Some people walked around the city walls whilst others took a boat trip. York is an exciting place to visit and everyone had an enjoyable time.

7月26日諾丁漢華人福利會有52位會員
一起前往約克一個古老而美麗的城市。
首先，我們去了國家鐵路博物館參觀
19世紀初到日本子彈列車的火車。接
著大巴送我們到了一個很有歷史性的
建築 —— 約克大教堂​​，然後大家一起
去了一個中餐館共進自助午餐。午餐
後是自由活動，一部分會員走上了城市
的城牆，另一部分去坐船。約克是一
個很好玩的城市，大家都很興奮。

A series of events and activities will take place this year aimed at encouraging children to enjoy reading books even more. The Year of Reading will involve books, comics and games left on trams and buses for children to pick up, reading events and competitions across the city, and Books on the Beach and story times at Nottingham Riviera in the Old Market Square.
The University of Nottingham, local businesses and voluntary organisations are also supporting the campaign. Lakeside, the University of Nottingham's public arts centre, is planning a series of exciting reading-related productions throughout the year including an International Children's Hans Christian Andersen Festival.

Migration Stories Project Celebration Party - 28 June 2011

It's been quite a while since we were invited to take part in the Migration Stories Project - the project involved interviewing and filming Chinese people telling about their past experiences as immigrants living in the UK and their current views on the country, people and in particular - Nottingham city. As a way of saying 'Thank you' to all the people involved with the project we organised a party which included the film projection and a delicious meal. The film will soon be available online.
